Good God an actual update. Can you believe it! I stopped posting new information after Google rescinded my AdSense account. Apparently they thought I was gaming the system so I could make all of $100.00 a month.

3/29/11

New blog on switching from a DSLR set up to a point and shoot camera.

3/12/11

Its hard to watch. Our prayers go out to those in Japan. Both the Big Picture and Sacbee have stunning images

01/25/11

Not sure where this rates but it sure is different. New York photographer, Mark Hedenberg has designed and made a blowup studio. Why? Not sure but what the heck.

01/14/11

OK now back to photography. The Fame has posted images from this years Dakar rally. Read my post.

01/10/11

Need some help. The cost of my website is starting to be an issue so if you like what you read and see please donate a couple of bucks so I can keep it going. It would be very much appreciated.

01/10/11

Say it isn’t so... Olympus may have finally made a camera I will actual spend money on. Read my post

01/05/11

Starting to think I need to change the theme of the website. More weather stories and to put the cherry on top now we have died birds and fish. Read my latest blog posts.

01/03/11

My first post of 2011 and it would be about weather. First it was Europe then California (still is) then the North East and now it’s landed in Australia. Hard to believe that this area has been under a server draught. for years. Checkout Big Picture

12/30/10

Staying with the weather theme, Sacramento Bee has posted more images from the from the American north east snow storm.

12/23/10

Excellent collection of sport images from the Denver Post. From snow in Europe to rain in California. See images

12/21/10

It’s 7 months since the last weather related post and I’m still feeling Mother Nature isn’t done with us yet. See MSNBC images from USA and see Sacramento Bee for the European story.

12/13/10

Finally added to my blog. Been working on a rant for the last month and I finally took the time to write it down. Also posted the map showing the location of the RadioPoppers shoot.

05/11/10

Just posted 3 new podcasts on the Radio Poppers remote flash triggering system.

05/05/10

Do you think Mother Nature is pissed offed. What happened to Nashville. I mean it’s in the middle of no-where and  is known only for bad music but come on isn’t this a little over the top? Click to see

04/20/10

More images from the Icelandic volcano. Check out the Big Picture and the Sacramento Bee.

04/18/10

I’ve been waiting for this. The Big Picture have posted the 2010 Earth Day images. They do an excellent job with the fade effect. A must see.

03/26/10

Ross Parry, the latest space photographer. I was just thinking about starting a space photography business and now I find out that wont work either. See more.

Rock star photographer Jim Marshall died yesterday at the age of 74. Read more.

03/23/10

More images for the World Water Day posted by The Sacramento Bee. From a photographic point of view, compare the same subject matter from the Big Picture series. Interesting to see to excellent images from a completely different perceptive.

03/22/10

Take a minute and relax with some  of the crazy images of latest world records posted by the Big Picture.

03/22/10

Check my blog for just released images posted by National Geographic for World Water Day.

WPPI Report.

What a show. It was my first time down and it was nice to see the crowds. Click for a report and some paparazzi celebrity photo’s.

Apple finally releases Aperture 3. Read my rant

02/02/10

It’s rare to find a true photographer these days. With flicker and other digital mediums it’s difficult to wade through the clutter of “photographers” and find true artists. Have a look at Rafael Rojas and see what you think.

01/12/10

My 2 passions, photography and the Dakar Rally. Some great photo’s of the worlds toughest race. Click to see more.

01/08/09

Normally I reserve this space for great photography but in this case it’s the structures that are amassing. Check the ice sculptures at the Harbin Ice and Snow sculpture festival from China. Quebec cities festival is good but this is unbelievable.

01/07/10

The CES chaos is in full swing. Olympus has announced several new point and shoots and hell must be frozen as the XD is gone! Long live SD! But it doesn’t stop there. Some models have 2 gigs of internal memory, so who needs a card at all. And even more they added USB charging. Well done Olympus. See DP Review for details.

01/04/10

Happy New Year. Hopefully 2010 will be better for most then 2009.

For all that are looking for new gear, read my latest blog about the DP Review Best of The Best photo winners.

12/21/09

MSNBC has posted their decade in pictures. Very nice images, just wish the interface was better.

12/21/09

Just back from a 3 day photo adventure in the Las Vegas area and what a 3 day trip it was!

Traveled from Vegas to Death Valley to the Hoover Dam. Perfect weather, great sites and just a cornucopia of images. More later.

Just posted the images from my trip. Click to go to the photos

12/15/09

The Boston Globe has released their collection of the best pictures of 2009. It’s 3 parts and worth the look. Wish the interface was better. It would be nice to have a full screen mode.

12/15/09

Once again Olympus goes off the cliff. Lets get an old movie star, make him look even older and then give him a script that is part Shakespeare and part slow hip hop to sell a 50 year old camera. And the camera, lets not say what it is, that would just be to....normal? Click to see the videos.

12/07/09

It’s official, we have been replaced by monkeys! It’s not that surprising since most “pro’s” have been working for bananas, well OK peanuts for years. Check out my blog for the video of the newest pro photographer.

12/06/09

Check out the 2009 best nature photographs on the Pixcetera site. Not sure about some of the images  but the 3rd photograph of the Northern lights is excellent.

11/27/09

See the future (again). The latest Time magazine cover was shot with a Red video camera. Yes video. The Red was developed by the former owner of Oakley and shoots is super HD. The resolution is so high that they Time was able to take a single video frame and use it as the cover shot. Click to see the video

08/19/09

Looks like it’s Canon day. The writers were busy with the latest announcements that include the Powershot G11, sorry all you G10 buyers. And is it a trend that will continue? The G11 is switching to a 10MP sensor, thats DOWN from the 14.7MP. Finally someone is listening that a smaller, cleaner sensor is better then a large, bad one.

08/07/09

It’s announcement time again. Nikon has the new D300S. It adds 720p HD video, like that’s a surprise. The big news for me is the introduction of SD memory card. The end of CF memory card is on it’s way.

With the D300S, Nikon has a neat point and shoot that will project the images on a screen. Nice feature for looking at birthday party images.

Sony and Pentax have also announce new point and shoots.

The new Pentax Optio WS80 join the growing ranks of under water point and shoots. Not good news for Olympus.

07 /14/09

What are they thinking!. Browsing Galbraith site which has 2 interesting links which I dutifully followed. Unfortunately some one forgot to tell Canon and Reuters, Both sites have the worst image presentation I’ve seen since Barney tried to be a painter.

Finally a good review for Olympus. DPreview just released the Olympus E-620 in-depth camera review and it was surprisingly positive. Other then not having video the camera held it’s own against the newest camera’s from Canon and Nikon.

07/02/09

2 excellent images from MSNBC from their list of TWIP

07/02/09

Finally an underwater camera shoot out. Canon claims top place with the new PowerShot D10. Read more at DPreview

06/10/09

Just posted Morris Studios Podcast 009.

05/25/09

I would like to thank all the people that commented on missing my seminars this show. It’s nice to know my words of wisdom are appreciated.

Apple was the big winner this show. Apple computers were discounted 15% and sold like hot cakes. The rest of the show was well attended.

05/18

The Henry’s Photographic show is on this Friday to Sunday. It’s a great show with some excellent speakers altho this show will have fewer then in the past. Drop by the Tiffen / Opus booth and say hi if your at the show/

Brilliant image of the erupting volcano in Alaska

Just added. Morris Studios Photo Adventures. See the podcast and image gallery of David Morris journey to capture stunning images.

Check the new links to 2 excellent photo sites on the my Links page And here they come. Last week Canon release or announced two new cameras with HD video. The Rebel T1i has a 15mb sensor and can capture 1080, 720 or 640 video. This was followed by the review of the PowerShot SX1 IS. It’s not great but it shows were we are heading.

Check out the photography comic site What The Duck. Heard it on TWIP this week. It’s very funny and has a great story behind it.

PMA is over for another year!

Day 3 was much the same as Day 2 with small crowds but at lest crowds. Unfortunately most of the crowds were for the silly “please stop” attractions. Perhaps the most telling review of PMA is the Dp-Review summary. They mention Sony, Olympus and Pentex, leaving out Canon and Nikon. When was the last time that happened?

Day 2 and the people came.  Foot traffic was up which removed some of the doom and gloom but the talk still centered on Ritz Camera and the loss by Nikon and Canon.

PMA 2009 in Las Vegas is off to a slow start. Click to read more.

One of the best photography products I have heard of has nothing to do with taking an image. It’s a storage device called Drobo. It’s a smart raid drive. I recently had a hard drive fail and even with back up it took a lot of work to correlate all my images. The Drobo would have eliminate all my wasted time and worry.

Under the heading of “What are they Thinking”, Olympus announces a new DSLR called the E-620. Following closely on the new E-30 and with many of the same features but with a $600.00 price advantage give rise to the question if the E-30 is a good buy. My guess the E-520 will go away and the E-620 will have a price drop.

Sad news from south of the border. Ritz camera declared bankruptcy today. Seem like they were in the boat business. Not good. Add that to reduced margin’s on cameras and well... Read more.

Will some one PLEASE stop the Cat’s Steven song Moon Shadow!!! Another full Moon and another attempt to get a stunning photography. More in Dave’s Photo Blog

Sony does it right with the just announced Cyper shot DSC-G3 point and shoot camera. Read more

Canon has the new EOS 5D Mark 2. What a camera! Create hi-ISO low noise and 1080 HD video. Like the original EOS -1, this camera once again will set the standard for all future DSLR’s.

The D3x is now shipping but few are moving through to consumers. The premium pricing is turning off many that would look to upgrade older systems. See complete review at Dp Review.
